The Rugby Premier League match between Rhinos and Buffaloes initially slated for Saturday, 1st May 2021 at Legends Grounds in Kampala has been postponed due to a reported Covid-19 positive case with one of the players in the Rhinos RFC camp.

This is the first reported covid-19 positive case in the league ever since the 2021 season kicked off in March.

“There has been a reported Covid-19 positive case with one of the players in the Rhinos RFC camp. As such all the players who attended that session have become contacts and will all require to undergo tests to determine their status,” Uganda Rugby Union (URU) said via a statement released today.

URU further says that the Uganda Rugby Medical Society as per the Covid-19 Protocols are monitoring all the contacts and have accordingly recommended that the game between Rhinos and Toyota Buffaloes scheduled for 1st May 2021 be postponed until the status of the contacts are known.

The union also recommends the Rhinos management for being vigilant and reporting the case early which will ensure that the situation is handled in good time.

“We urge all the teams to remain vigilant and observe the set SOPs for the sport . We will advise the new date for this game,” another part of the URU statement read.
